Mainstreet Communication's Sample Sample Projects

Main Street Communications is based in Vancouver. The company works with clients on the development and implementation of strategic communications and marketing plans, the design and delivery of new programs, and the resolution of community and organizational issues. Here is a sampling of some of our projects.

Public Facilities for Chilliwack

Public Facilities for Chilliwack
..................................................................................

The City of Chilliwack first hired Main Street in 1999 to assist with the redevelopment of 37 acres of prime downtown land. The company worked with City staff to create a community-based process that drew about more than 100 people into planning workshops. The resulting concept plan has formed the basis for the design and construction of a leisure centre, outdoor sports facilities and an arena with capacity for almost 6,000 people. Main Street continues to work with the City on other projects including a public process on downtown revitalization, arts centre planning, a contest to name the new fairgrounds and the announcement of numerous City initiatives.

"The folks at Main Street have a sure grasp of community dynamics and of technical issues. They have been a reliable source of support to Council and staff during a period of rapid development and change in Chilliwack."
- Clint Hames, Mayor, City of Chilliwack

In 2002 and 2003, Main Street provided editorial services and design advice to the David Suzuki Foundation in the production of three reports on energy efficiency: The Bottom Line on Kyoto; Kyoto and Beyond; and Bright Future. Each of the publications received national attention from governments and major media. The common theme of the reports is that Canadians can enhance their energy security and reduce greenhouse gas emissions by adopting new technologies that are proven, practical and available in the market.

Her 24-page advertising supplement for the grand opening of the ACT won a "Best Newspaper Feature" award from Metro Valley Newspapers.

"Your experience and expertise in putting together a report of this calibre is second to none and the feedback has been very positive."
- Jake Rudolph, Chief Administrative Officer, District of Pitt Meadows

Main Street provides ongoing economic development consultation and support to the District of Pitt Meadows, and provided facilitation and project support services to the Economic Development department of the City of Richmond.

In 2002, the City of North Vancouver hired Main Street to help resolve a public debate over maintenance and gravesite ornamentation at the North Vancouver Cemetery. Working with a cemetery advisory committee, the company planned and facilitated two workshops to identify issues and solutions. About 75 local residents attended each workshop. Acting on the recommendations that emerged from the process, the City revised its cemetery by-law and increased its maintenance budget.

"Main Street helped the City and residents to work together and find common ground on a difficult set of issues."
- Bruce Hawkshaw, City Clerk, City of North Vancouver
